From here you can specify full and incremental crawl schedules for the local SharePoint site content.<\/p>\n<p>To create a schedule for full crawls, click the <em>Create schedule<\/em> link immediately below the Full Crawl drop down list.  Next, do the same for the incremental crawl.  Ideally you want the full crawl to run once every day and the incremental to run every 30 minutes, of course this depends on the volume of data that will be crawled and how important it is to your business that content becomes visible via searches after approval\\submission.<\/p>\n<h2>User Profile Service<\/h2>\n<p>Before configuring the user profile service, the first step is to ensure the synchronisation service has started.  To do this, launch the Central Administration site and click on the Manage services on server link.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_660\" style=\"width: 781px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Manage-Services-on-Server-Link.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-660\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Manage-Services-on-Server-Link.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"Manage Services on Server Link\" width=\"771\" height=\"140\" class=\"size-full wp-image-660\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Manage-Services-on-Server-Link.png 771w, http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Manage-Services-on-Server-Link-300x54.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-660\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Manage Services on Server Link<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Also, ensure the selected server is the application server before continuing and then locate the <em>User Profile Synchronization Service<\/em> entry in the list.  To the right of the entry is a link titled <em>Start<\/em>, click it to continue.  If it has already started you can ignore the rest of this step and continue from the next heading &#8211; <em>Configure User Profile Service<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the domain user account to run the user profile service under. Under <em>Monitoring<\/em>, click the Check job status link.<\/p>\n<p>On the page that loads, under the <em>Running<\/em> section, look for an entry titled <em>ProfileSynchronizationSetupJob<\/em>.  It should have a status of running. This will load a new synchronization page for the user profile service application.<\/p>\n<p>Give the connection a name.  The name you give is not important.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the domain controller name in the <em>Forest Name<\/em> text box.<\/p>\n<p>For the account, enter the User Profile Sync account, the same as that used when configuring the user profile service account from earlier.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_668\" style=\"width: 1001px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/New-Sync-Connection.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-668\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/New-Sync-Connection.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"New Sync Connection\" width=\"991\" height=\"630\" class=\"size-full wp-image-668\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/New-Sync-Connection.png 991w, http:\/\/www.stuartroberts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/New-Sync-Connection-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 991px) 100vw, 991px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-668\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New Sync Connection<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Next, press the <em>Populate Containers<\/em> button, select the containers you would like to synchronise and press OK.  Ensure that you select only the users you want to synched otherwise it may take a long time to complete.<\/p>\n<p>Again, perform an IIS reset on the server.<\/p>\n<p>The last step for this configuration is to start a full profile synchronisation.
